Clinton Hockey History

The Clinton Historical Society is honored to have been asked to merge the Thank You Albert Prettyman website with the Society’s. The site was dedicated to the Hamilton College athletic director who brought hockey to the college and to the kids of Clinton in 1918.

Not only did the community celebrate 100 years of hockey at the Thank You Albert Prettyman weekend in February 2018, it also got national recognition a few months later. In September, the Clinton Arena won the national Kraft Hockeyville USA title sponsored by the National Hockey League and Kraft Foods. A full house turned out at the Arena for an NHL preseason game between the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets, plus the Arena received $150,000 for building improvements.

It was an amazing year for Clinton hockey. So enjoy all of the history, photos, videos, and personal recollections here on our website. And if you have a hockey story, we’d love to hear it. Just go to Tell Us Your Story below and you can add your episode to our hockey history.
