“The Last Dormitory”: A Guided Gambol Through the Necropolis of Hamilton College
Join the Clinton Historical Society in welcoming Hamilton College’s Fred Rogers, the self-appointed “dean and docent” of the College cemetery, for his wildly popular exploration of Hamilton’s history and heritage through the revealing optic of its ancient burying ground. Part presentation, part meditation on the College’s institutional past, this hour-long pictorial transit through the tombs celebrates the well-lived lives that continue to shape today’s Hamilton.
On the Hill, Fred currently serves as director of gift planning and formerly directed the Hamilton Fund. An author and speaker, he has written historical pieces for Hamilton magazine in addition to leading regular tours of the cemetery. Fred is descended from three generations of Hamiltonians going back to the mid-19th century and is the parent of an alumna in the Class of 2021. He holds degrees from Harvard College, Middlebury College, and the General Theological Seminary.
Admission is free for the general public, donations are encouraged. Please contact the Clinton Historical Society at (315) 859-1392 or visit the CHS website at (www.clintonhistory.org) for additional information.
